Coach Altshuler,
Your 20 Gap defense is a complete defensive package. I am the defensive coordinator at Sequim High School. We ran a 52 and I was looking for help on how to roll it into a 4-4. After watching your all of your videos I changed are whole defense to your 20 Gap package. With just a little
adjustments you can give the offence a lot of different looks. Even with the adjustments the players reads are the same so that the players can excel at what they do. Everything that you need to teach the 20 gap is in the videos. This helps all of your coaches on every level teach the same defense. Sequim went from one winning season in 12 years to back to back winning seasons the first two seasons we used the 20 Gap. Our records were 7-3 and 10-0. The first year our defense allowed an ave. 14.7 points per game. The second year we improved to only 13.6 points per game. In 2004 we were league champs for the first time in 28 years. This defense has helped us turn this program around and create a winning attitude. It was the best money our program ever spent.
Thanks,

Three years ago I became our High Schools Defensive Coordinator. Our Head Coach came acrosss your tapes and asked me to see what I thought. I Looked at the tapes and right away I knew that they would work. The year before the team gave up 29 points a game, and only won one game, The year we put this in we gave up 6.9 points a game and went to the playoffs.
This year we made it to the State Championships in AA. IN a Three year span we only allowed 10 points per game. In our 23 Wins 12 were by Shutouts!!
Yes players make plays, but coaches(schemes) put players into POSITION to make plays.
I highly recommend these tapes for any coach at any level. There sound easy to teach and are very sound for a base or for a different look.

Prior to the 2004 season we felt the need to add more punch to our defensive squad. It was our aim to install a more flexible scheme, one capable of adjusting to and shutting down the variety of offensive schemes that we encountered in the course of a season. We also wanted to reduce the 'cerebrial' component, and enable the kids to react without hesitation due to complexity. After researching the 4-4 (4-2), and much discussion with Coach Altshuler, we installed the package. The result was a defense that ranked in the top 10 statewide for the 2004 season. One that posted 3 shutouts and helped secure an undefeated run through our league. Coach Altshuler's tapes were instrumental in our transition. They are very informative and thorough. I recommend them highly.

Coach Altshuler,
The 20 Gap Defense is an outstanding defensive concept. It is easy to teach and comprehend. Our players have enjoyed the challenges of learning and executing the techniques necessary to play the 20. It rewards your players with a chance to be successful at each individual positions in a team concept.

Coach Altshuler,
"I am a second year Defensive Coordinator at my school in only its third year with a football program. Just before my arrival, our head coach came across your tapes, bought them, and decided to install the Gap 20. It has proven to be a great success and certainly made my job easier. The defense is quite easy to teach and the reads are very simple.
In my first season we went 5-4 and barely missed the playoffs. The defense was solid, though, giving up only 11 points per game. This past season was a great success for us. We went 9-2 and made it to the State Championship game. (our two losses came to the eventual state champ.) The starting defense gave up only 8 points per game and the overall team average was 10.5 points. We rarely gave up a big play and remained very solid throughout the season.
Thanks to the philosophies of the 20 defense, we had ILB average of 13.9 hits per game. He was rarely blocked. Another strength I have found is in the attack of the hard corner by the OLB's. Opposing teams can't seem to figure out what we are doing there. All they see is an OLB that looks too far away to be effective.
Thanks to the 20 Gap, it seems that we will always be solid on the defensive side of the ball, (the side that truly does win championships.) Thanks for allowing other coaches to learn about this great scheme."

Coach Altshuler,
This is the BEST defense that I have ever been associated
with in my 14 years of high school coaching. I coach at
Shelby Valley High School in eastern Kentucky. Our school
is a AA school and plays in a good district. In the previous
five years we went 1-9 for four years and 4-6 the fifth
year. This year after buying your Gap 20 defense, we were
9-1 in the regular season. Until the playoffs, we were ranked
with the #1 pass defense in the state of Kentucky, allowing
only 32.3 yards per game. After the playoffs, we were tied
for fourteenth place in the state allowing only 62.1 yards
a game in an eleven game schedule.
Our kids were reading this defense so well that on Friday
night, all you had to do was send eleven of them out there
and enjoy the game. I have nothing but great things to say
about this defense and what it did for our program. If anyone
has any doubts about this defense, clear them from your
mind. This defense is not as good as I say it is , "it is
much better than I can express".

Dear Coach Altshuler,
I was a first year defensive coordinator at a school where
they had played a 5-2 defense since the program was started.
I taught these kids your system in less than a week. The
community who follows football was not very supportive at
first because the previous coach had been there for 30 years.
Anyway it didn't take long for the boo birds to be silenced
because the only points scored on us in the first four games
was a safety. We ended up allowing only 65 points the whole
year including that safety and about half of that total
was given up by the second and third string defense. We
created 45 turnovers with 26 of them being interceptions,
that's an average of 4 turnovers a game!
I always liked playing in a 4-4, but I had no idea which
direction to take until I saw your system, it is very easy
to teach and it is easy to make adjustments to what they
try to do to us in the second half of the game. I really
look forward to this next season, because I have run the
system one year and look to teach it even better next year.
Thank you for developing this system and allowing me to
use it.

Coach,
I have your first set of tapes from an earlier date. I
received the 20 gap defense tapes 6-10 on Thursday. I spent
the entire weekend watching and re-watching them. They are
excellent! The Formation Adjustments, Stunts, Cover 4, Wing-T,
and Practice Plan answered a lot of questions for me.
This was my first year as head coach at a school @ 1,800
students. Including two Junior Highs, I am responsible for
8 teams and 20 coaches. Your package and tapes make your
defense very attractive to me. The first 10 years of my
coaching career, I was involved with various types of 4-4's.
The last 7 years I have ran a 50 slant defense. The slant
has been good to me, but the coverage adjustments become
numerous and more complex.
Many of the questions I have about the 20 gap have been
answered by watching all your tapes. If I have questions
as they come up, may I e-mail you?

Dear Coach Altshuler,
I am an assistant coach at a high school in Southwest Florida.
We recently ordered your "SET A" tapes on the Gap 20 defense.
First of all, we were impressed with the quick delivery
- I ordered the tapes on a Friday and received them the
following Monday. Second, we were very pleased with the
quality of the tapes themselves. We have decided to switch
from our present defensive scheme (an attack 4-3) to a split-4
scheme. We felt we needed to find a better way to utilize
our personnel, in addition to giving our players some solid
keys to rely on, and teach them the game of football more
effectively. We always seem to have a large number of defensive
back-type kids - perfect outside linebacker/defensive end
types - not your traditional down kids. We have a lot of
players who play much better on 2 feet than they do in a
stance.
Thanks again for putting together a great product!

Your defense made a big impact on our football
program. This past season we went from a peewee league total
stunt defense to a highly disciplined one. In terms of pints
we gave up 350 in 1996, 250 in 1997, and this past season,
after putting in the Gap 20, our team gave up only 82 points.
We defeated a team that has only one loss in two years and
was the Alaska State Champion in 1997 & 1998. We beat
them with defense and shut down their Wing-T running game
with the techniques shown on the tapes. Our program is indepted
to you and the defense was outstanding. The best thing is
that our players loved it and felt like our plan and program
was extremely well organized.

Coach Altshuler-
This year our team went from second-to-last
defensively in the conference to second from the top in
both points allowed and yards allowed. We also made it to
the Quarter finals of the State Play-offs FOR THE FIRST
TIME IN 14 YEARS! Our players as well as our coaching staff
really came to believe in the defense. It was very adaptable.
We found it relatively easy to adjust from week to week.
In fact, we believed in the 20 gap defense so throughly
that we often stayed in the base defense most of the game.
Our opponents found it difficult to throw or run against.
The defense appears as if you might be able to get outside
on a sweep or an option, but the teaching techniques you
included in your presentation get the defenders to the right
place at the right time, and there were very few big plays
run against us all year. I especially like the way you coordinate
the techniques so that the players in the one position are
reacting in such a way as to give the players in the other
positions the chance to make the play.
In the past we often taught each position
their techniques and fundamentals as a strictly individual
objective. But the individual techniques in this defense
all blend together so that the 20 becomes a truly "swarming
defense". We were all especially impressed with
the coordination between the linebackers and the ends when
the "Red Sea" is read. I can't tell you
how many times our linebackers appeared out of nowhere to
make a big play. The kids were confident and that made them
more aggressive. To quote one coach of a team we beat in
the second round on the state play-offs (as reported to
us after the game by one of our chain gang members on that
side of the field), "I can't believe that we can't
make any yards running against them. Their linebackers are
lined up five yards deep!"
The last thing that I want to mention is
the strength of this defense against good teams. We reached
the state quarter finals this year. In the three games we
played against our state playoffs opponents, we only allowed
one touchdown in the first three quarters of all the games
put together. Also, Coach, we would appreciate it if you
would let us know about any information you are adding to
your presentation. Again, thanks for all your personal help
over the phone. It was invaluable.

Coach,
I had been out of coaching for several years, but due to budget cuts in Oklahoma, I was asked to help our new head coach as defensive coordinator. Our staff consisted of the head coach, two part time assistants, and an intern. I bought a set of your tapes last summer and convinced the head coach that we could play this defense with our undersized kids. The team had been 1-9 and 3-7 the last two years and only one winning season in the last ten. Coach, you would have been proud. We finished 8-4 and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs. The kids loved this defense. The freshmen went 7-1. You could sense the pride in the team, the school, and the community grow each week. Thanks for that set of videos.
